This is a picture of Arthur Reade high up on the eastern flank of the White Mountains above the village of Kares. He had been infiltrated into Crete to sabotage shipping.
The 'Beehive' is at an altitude of 1175 m and must have been very cold in winter!
Peter and I found the 'Beehive' on our 2014 trip to Crete. It had taken us several years to find - it is very remote - 4 miles from the nearest village Kares, which is also two thousand feet below it.
